SOUND DOCTRINE (faultless teachings)

Thando Mlalazi

Without doctrine,  Christianity would disintegrate beyond measure. ‘Sound doctrine’ is an integral part of Christianity. It is almost impossible to live according to God’s requirements unless we’re taught the correct principles. Rom 7:7 says “‘I had not known sin, but by the law:   for I had not known lust, except the law had said, “Thou shalt not covet”.’

“Without guidance, we wouldn’t know we’re straying.” In fact, we would go on to mislead as many as we come in contact with, therefore, it’s by sound-doctrine that we notice error.

‘Speak thou the things which become sound doctrine: …that the word of God be not blasphemed.’ Titus 2:1-5

Have you noticed the scriptures are littered with warnings against false teachings? It is therefore so important to, ‘Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.’ 2Tim 2:15. You see, in a time like now, when the bible promises that false prophets will arise, the need for sound doctrine has never been dearer. Biblical guidance means nothing to an unremorseful sinner, but to you and I, it is our knowledge of how to please God correctly. Have a look at what Jesus warned the people to beware of in Mt 16:6-13..?

What exactly was wrong with the Doctrine of the Pharisees or Sadducees? And what false doctrines ought we to beware of today?
