Stability.

An ANCHOR is cast overboard a ship to grip the ’unmoving’ sea floor. This keeps the ship secure.

But why am I showing you this? and why state the obvious?

Heres why…  The hope you have in Jesus is meant to be the anchor for your soul, right?

Well.  I.  slipped. After leaving Primary School, I went to Secondary where I noticed all support from my teachers was focused on ‘ME achieving’ so I may “do well in life”. By year 11, I had a pretty rough idea about what career I wanted and off I was again being motivated by ‘ME doing well for MYSELF”.

School finished and it was now talk about “University, Moving out, and making Money”; Still MYSELF. I had kept my “Anchor” set on my own achievements and like many other christians, my self-esteem was fastened more on myself and not on GOD. Sound familiar?

It’s so easy to make this mistake and thankfully God showed me this before any storm could shipwreck me.  Christ’s love needs to be the only catalyst to our emotions. See Colossians 3:1-2 below.

‘If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth’.

What an anchor does is create a pivot for a vessel; it allows the vessel to be slightly tossed by the waves. In fact it doesn’t protect the vessel from the tempests but makes sure the tempests do not take the vessel to a different position. So it is with the life of a Christian as the tempests will rage but God will not suffer the righteous to be moved.
The challenge is getting yourself anchored in Christ and making sure the anchor holds fast especially in these days when all around us seeks our life unto death. The idea of self actualization has the world running in fear as many want to be the envy of all. Media has played a great part in socializing human beings to degenerate to self destruction. The age of celebrity and glamour convolved with over glorified competition has promoted sinful ideas and created environments that offer even the most elect of Christians a moral obligation to be immoral. Thus, we have phrases like ‘healthy competition’ (oxymoronic in nature), ‘get ahead in life’ (ahead of whom? Selfish!), he’s a born winner, etc. Whatever the circumstance, the idea being promoted is, doing it own your own hence the new religions that seek to install men as Gods and masters of their own destinies.
Success is achieving God’s standard through Jesus Christ therefore the contrary will be true, failure is falling short of the same. The richest man is not he who has the most but he who needs the least. In this case then, if all you need is Christ then you are the richest for yours is the Kingdom of Heaven.
What I know is success has one currency which is righteousness through faith in Christ.

    Easier said huh?
